Dynamic Filament Mapping

Dual-extrusion printers can reduce flush time in multi-colour printing. The Filament Track Switch intelligently routes filament from AMS units to whichever nozzle the slicer assigns, rather than requiring manual spool swapping between AMS units. It unbinds AMS units from specific nozzles and enables mid-print colour reassignments for more efficient operation.

Important Compatibility Notes

1. The number of AMS units depends on the printer’s supported AMS expansion limit.
2. With one AMS on a dual-nozzle printer, left and right hotends support alternate—not simultaneous—feeding. The AMS must unload and reload filament during a switch.
3. Do not use the switch with an external spool: the external spool permanently occupies an extruder channel and prevents dynamic mapping.
4. Some filaments, including PLA-CF, PLA Glow and PLA Silk, are more sensitive to feed resistance and may fail to load or unload. Avoid routing them through the switch.

Installation

Refer to the official Bambu Lab installation guide and video walkthrough before installation. Use the recommended PTFE tube length.
